BAFTA Award winning artist, composer, musician and producer Ólafur Arnalds proudly announces first dates of his 2018 worldwide tour called “All Strings Attached”.
Fresh off his projects “Island Songs”, TV scores such as the 3rd season of “Broadchurch” and a world tour with his electronic outfit KIASMOS, Ólafur and his team of fellow craftsmen and musicians are back in the lab, working on an all new live show. The idea for “All Strings Attached” was born out of our forgotten, yet inherent interconnectedness; the unity of all things and the interdependent nature of us humans. “I want the show to act as a mirror for a society which celebrates the fleeting and ephemeral, while shunning the enduring and avoiding true connections.” The tour, featuring a uniquely wired ensemble of a string quartet, Manu Delago (Björk, Cinematic Orchestra) on percussion and Ólafur’s playground of pianos and synthesisers, he will present past, current and brand new material in a new light.
The centrepiece of the show is a generative algorithm software that Ólafur has designed to control 2 self playing pianos acting as one. It is an invitation to commit – to oneself, to each other, and to the moment, as the Zeitgeist notion of “no strings attached…” gives way to the spirit of “All Strings Attached”
