One of the most exciting and genre-bending voices in contemporary nonfiction, essay writing, fiction, and art criticism, Geoff Dyer comes to Murmrr Ballroom with a special talk and slide slow on his latest book, The Street Philosophy of Garry Winogrand. He will be interviewed by renowned filmmaker Michael Almereyda (most recently director of "Marjorie Prime," starring Jon Hamm, as well as documentaries on Sam Shepard and William Eggleston). A rare pairing and not to be missed.

Geoff Dyer
Geoff Dyer is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. He is the author of many books including Out of Sheer Rage, Paris Trance, The Ongoing Moment and, most recently,The Street Philosophy of Garry Winogrand. His books have won numerous prizes and have been translated into twenty-four languages. He currently lives in Los Angeles, where he is Writer in Residence at the University of Southern California.
Michael Almereyda
Michael Almereyda is an American film director, screenwriter, and film producer. His most well known work is Hamlet (2000), starring Ethan Hawke. His many other films include This So-Called Disaster, William Eggleston in the Real World,Cymbeline , Experimenter , Marjorie Prime, and Escapes. He has written criticism and commentary for The New York Times, Film Comment, Artforum, Bookforum, The Believer, and Triple Canopy.
